Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Cardinal Stritch

The boys basketball season came to end this past Friday against the #1 seed Cardinal Stritch. The boys were led in scoring by Kayden Bourget, who had 10 points. Jack Brown, and Troy Rutherford both chipped in 4 points. We want to thank our Seniors for their dedication to the program these past four years, and we also want to thank our cheerleaders, fans, and our faculty staff for their support throughout the season. Good luck to everybody beginning their spring sport season!

The boys varsity basketball team lost this past Friday to Port Clinton on Senior Night. The boys were led by our Seniors Friday night, Jack Brown scored 18 points and broke the regular season three point record to go along with his single game record that he previously broke earlier this year. Troy Rutherford also chipped in 4 points, and we want to thank them for the leadership, and dedication to the program these past four years. The boys return to action tonight in our first tournament game at Hopewell Loudon with a 7:30 tip-off vs Lakota.

The boys varsity basketball team lost in overtime to Danbury last night. The boys were led by Kayden Bourget, who had 22 points, and Jack Brown added 19 points including two clutch free throws at the end of the 4th quarter. Bryson Wittmer added 9 points, Luke Blatnik added 7 points, Davin Wendt added 6 points, and Zach Rang added 2 points. The boys return to action Friday for Senior Night.

The boys were led in scoring by Davin Wendt, who had 15 points, Jack Brown added 14 points, Luke Blatnik had 13 points, and Troy Rutherford had 11 points. The boys varsity basketball team split this weekend with a tough loss at home v. Margaretta and a road win at South Central. The boys were led Friday night by Jack Brown, who scored 24 points and set the school record for 8 three pointers in a single game. Congrats Jack! Luke Blatnik added 10 points and 8 assists Friday. Bryson Wittmer and Kayden Bourget each added 7 points, and Troy Rutherford and Davin Wendt each chipped in 5 points. Saturday night the boys were led in scoring by Kayden Bourget, who had 22 points, Jack Brown had 15 points, and Luke Blatnik added 10 points. The boys return to action this Friday at home v. Willard.

The boys varsity basketball team dropped two games over the weekend to Oak Harbor and Western Reserve. The boys were led in scoring Friday by Kayden Bourget, who had 12 points, and Jack Brown and Luke Blatnik each added 11 points. Saturday the boys were paced by Kayden Bourget's 16 points, Davin Wendt had 9 points, Jack Brown had 8 points, and Luke Blatnik chipped in 7 points. The boys varsity basketball team opened up the season with a victory on the road at New London. The boys forced 17 turnovers as a team, and had 26 offensive rebounds. They were led in scoring by Bryson Wittmer, who had 13, Davin Wendt, who added 3 3pointers and 11 points, Kayden Bourget had 8 points, while Grayson Smith and Luke Blatnik each added 6 points. Cole Leimeister, Jack Brown, Zach Rang, Gavin O'Dell, and Lucas Langhals all contributed to the scoring, as well. The boys return to action this Friday at Huron for our first conference game against the rival Tigers.

The boys varsity basketball team lost to Colonel Crawford this past Friday ending the 2021-22 season. Thank you to our Seniors, Brady Barker, Gabe Rang, Keegan Smith, and Noah Smith for their dedication and effort over the past four years. The boys varsity basketball team won their sectional semi-final match-up with the Lakota Raiders 54-34. The boys were led in scoring by Jack Brown who had 5 1st half 3 pointers for 15 points. Kayden Bourget added 12 points, Troy Rutherford added 10 points, Luke Blatnik added 6 points, and Noah Smith had 5 points. The boys will play for a Sectional Championship this Friday against Colonel Crawford at Monroeville HS at 5:30 p.m.

The boys varsity lost Friday on Senior Night to visiting Willard. The boys were led in scoring by Kayden Bourget, who had 21 points, and Troy Rutherford who added 11 points. The game started with Keegan Smith joining his classmates and starting in his final game after missing the season due to a knee injury. It was a great idea, thought of by his senior teammates Brady Barker, Noah Smith, and Gabe Rang. We return to the action tonight for our senior's last night in the Thunderdome as they take on South Central.

The boys varsity dropped two tough games over the weekend against Oak Harbor and Bellevue. The boys fought hard, but ultimately came up short. We were led in rebounds by Troy Rutherford who had 12 rebounds, Brady Barker had 11 rebounds, and Noah Smith had 10 rebounds. We were also led in assists by Luke Blatnik who had 3 assists, and led in steals by Gabe Rang who had 4 steals. December Athlete of the Month - Lincoln Meredith

The Athletic Department would like to congratulate the following student-athletes for being nominated by their coaches as athlete of the month for December.  Aliyah Caporini- Aliyah Averaged 17.5 ppg, 9 rebs, 6 steals, and 3 assists over a six-game stretch in December. She had 19 points, 6 steals, and 5 rebounds against Margaretta and a huge 29 points, 13 rebounds, 5 steal performance in an overtime win at Oak Harbor.   Lincoln Meredith-  Lincoln scored 22 points against Norwalk St. Paul and has had a great start to his senior season.  Please stop into the athletic office to receive your award.

On Senior Night, Seth Thompson added 6 points, Drew Sneider had 5 points, and Connor Romell added 4 points. The team would like to thank the student section that came out for Senior Night, and all season long. The post season starts by taking on Norwalk at 6:15 p.m. this Tuesday at Willard High School. JV Boys Basketball vs. Willard/South Central

The JV Boys basketball team had a two game weekend this weekend.  Friday Night the Chargers started hot but fizzled out and lost a close game to Willard 49-39.  Clay Byington led with 10 points.  On Saturday the Chargers competed against South Central and kept control for most of the game until SC got hot and the Chargers couldn't quite make the comeback they needed losing by 6 points.  Keegan Smith and Clay Byington each led the Chargers with 9 points a piece.  The Chargers will face Port Clinton this Friday on the road.  Go Chargers! The boys varsity basketball team lost last night to Clyde 50 to 43. The fourth quarter comeback came up short, but the boys showed a lot of fight getting back in it. The boys were led by Grant Ott, who scored 9 points, Connor Romell who chipped in 6, and Patrick McManus added 5 points. The boys will return to action this Saturday at Firelands.  The JV boys dug themselves in a deep hole early and although they fought back hard, they were unable to surface against the Fliers losing 54-37.  Clay Byington led the Chargers with 16 and Jalen Kegarise added 6.  JV boys play tomorrow at Firelands. JV Boys Basketball vs. Port Clinton

This past weekend the Boys basketball teams hosted the Port Clinton Redskins.  The JV boys were able to use good defense and balanced scoring to defeat the Redskins 35-24.  Clay Byington lead all scores with 13 while Brady Barker had 10.  This improved the JV record to 5-3.  The Chargers have a double weekend ahead on the road against Huron and Vermilion.  Go Chargers! The boys varsity basketball team won a close game with Woodmore last night with a score of 66 to 62. The boys were led by Connor Romell, who scored 19 points including a free throw to put us up 4 with time winding down. Grant Ott, chipped in 18 point, Dylan O'Dell scored 9 points, Seth Thompson and Patrick Amburgy both added 7 points apiece. The boys are back in action Saturday at Norwalk St. Paul.

Last night the JV boys basketball team traveled to Woodmore.  Even though it was a tough night shooting the basketball, the boys managed to eke out a win 31-30.  Clay Byington led all scorers with 13 points.  The boys play again this Saturday at St. Paul.

Varsity Basketball vs. Margaretta/Bellevue

The boys varsity basketball team had two hard fought 1-loss games this weekend. The Chargers lost their first game of the season at Margaretta after a thrilling 11 point rally brought us back to a tied game with less than a minute remaining. Saturday, the boys shook off the tough loss, and played well at home against Bellevue only to come up one point shy of a victory again. In both games, the boys played well and competed until the end. Thank you to the students and faculty that came out to support us this past weekend.  The boys will look to bounce back this Wednesday night at Woodmore and Saturday night at Norwalk St. Paul. Freshmen Boys Basketball vs. Danbury

The Freshman boys basketball team improved their record to 2-0 with a 46-40 victory over Danbury last night.  Max Hoover and Troy Rutherford led the Chargers in scoring with 12 points each, Jack Brown tallied 11 points while Dominic Dymond contributed with 9 points and Kade Garn pitched in with 2.  The boys next game is at Margaretta Friday. The Freshman boys basketball team defeated New London Friday night in their home opener by a score of 39-24.  Troy Rutherford led all scorers with 17 points, Jack Brown scored 10 while Dominic Dymond tossed in 8 and Brock Tice contributed with 4 points.  The Freshman boys next game is against Danbury on December 11th at 5:30. Varsity Boys Basketball vs. New London/Danbury

The boys varsity basketball team started out their season this past weekend by defeating New London and Danbury to improve to 2 and 0. The boys were led in scoring by Patrick Ambury, who scored 23 and 19 over the weekend. Dylan O'Dell added 8 and 11 points. Drew Sneider scored 15 points and Connor Romell added 11 points on Saturday. JV Boys Basketball vs. New London/Danbury

On opening weekend the JV boys basketball team had a successful run as they played New London and Danbury on Friday and Saturday nights. The Chargers handled the New London Wildcats with ease winning 38-15.  A balanced scoring attack made it difficult to be stopped.  Noah Smith led all scorers with 9 followed by Clay Byington with 8.  On Saturday the Chargers took on a very chaotic Danbury Lakers team but won 56-29. Noah Smith and Cameron Smith led the Chargers with 13 points a piece followed by Troy Rutherford's 10 points.  The Chargers are back in action next Friday on the road against Margaretta! More +

The boys varsity basketball team lost to Oak Harbor this past Friday on Senior Night. The boys played well, and were led by Seniors Carson Ehrhardt, Larry Kessler, and Caleb Bissell as they did all season. Lincoln Meredith chipped in 3 three pointers, as well. The boys were led in scoring Friday by Carson Ehrhardt and Dylan O'Dell, who scored 12 and 11 points respectively. The boys were led in scoring Saturday night by Larry Kessler, who scored 21 points. The boys varsity basketball split this weekend with a win at Port Clinton on Friday and a loss Saturday against South Central. The boys were led Friday by Carson Ehrhardt and Larry Kessler, who each scored 16 points, and Lincoln Meredith who scored 11. The boys varsity basketball team lost on the road last night to Tiffin Calvert. The boys were led in scoring by Larry Kessler, who scored 17 points and Lincoln Meredith who contributed 8 points. Varsity/Freshmen Boys Basketball vs. Vermilion

The boys varsity basketball team lost a tough game at Vermilion over the weekend. The boys were paced by Larry Kessler and Carson Ehrhardt, who scored 14 and 12 points. The boys return to action tomorrow night at Tiffin Calvert and Friday night at home v. Bellevue. 

Friday night the boys basketball teams traveled to Vermilion to take on the Sailors.  The freshman boys played a well hard fought game but came up short in a heart breaker as they lost 31-30.  Noah Smith and Clay Byington each led the Chargers with 8 points each while Brady Barker and Gabe Rang added 6 points each.  The Chargers play tomorrow night on the road at Tiffin Calvert.  Game starts at 4:30.

Freshmen Boys Basketball vs. Margaretta

Freshman Boys Basketball hosted Margaretta on Tuesday.  The Chargers jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the first couple quarters and managed to hold on with a 37-28 victory after being beat by 30 earlier in the year.  Clay Byington lead all scores with 14 points, Jacob Robinson chipped in 7, and Brady Barker added 6.  The team shot 10 for 11 from the free throw line.  The Chargers face Vermilion tonight at Vermilion. The JV boys basketball team lost to Vermilion Friday 49-38.  Luke Bissell lead Edison in scoring with 13 points while Andrew Neate scored 8.  Saturday the JV team lost to St Mary's 43-32, Lincoln Meredith was the high scorer for the Chargers with 7.  The boys are back in action Saturday against St Paul. On Friday night the freshman basketball team took on Vermilion at home.  After a hard fought first half battle the Chargers were down one at the break.  A scoreless 3rd quarter made the difference in the Chargers being defeated 36-24.  Clay Byington led the Chargers with 9 points. On Saturday night the boys hosted St. Mary's in a non-conference matchup.  The Chargers physicality was the difference maker as they dominated inside the paint and won 35-19.  Keegan Smith lead all scores with 10 points while Clay Byington added 8 and Brady Barker and Noah Smith had 6 each.  The freshman play at home on Wednesday night against Western Reserve starting at 5:30 More +
